I used to think I didn’t have time to read, but then Book-Tok convinced me otherwise. Between car rides, cleaning sessions, toddler wrangling, and gym workouts, I’ve rediscovered my love for a good story, all thanks to the magic of audiobooks. I’ve become obsessed, and these are the books that fueled my addiction—the ones that gave me new book boyfriends, epic adventures, and a reason to keep listening long after I should have gone to bed.

A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J. Maas

My entire reading journey started here. This is the series that made me fall in love with fantasy romance. It begins with a Beauty and the Beast vibe that initially drew me in, but it quickly becomes so much more. I fell head over heels for Rhysand and then got completely swept off my feet by Cassian. What I truly loved was how Feyre’s “happily ever after” wasn’t what she thought it would be—a feeling that is so relatable. The emotional depth and incredible world-building of this series are what keep me coming back. I’m on my fifth re-read, and I’m not sorry about it.

This book was, without a doubt, my favorite read of the year. It’s a sizzling-hot fantasy that throws you into a world of scorching deserts and frozen mountains. The story follows Saeris Fane, a woman with strange powers, who is thrown into the path of the dangerous and brooding Kingfisher. I was immediately hooked by their undeniable chemistry and the constant tension. The moment Kingfisher uttered the line, “I’m about to introduce you to all seven gods,” I knew this series was something special. Empyrean Series by Rebecca Yarros

Books 1-3: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm

Think Top Gun meets Game of Thrones with dragons, and you’ll get a taste of this series. This is a brutal, high-stakes world where students at a dragon rider war college literally have to fight to survive. The enemies-to-lovers tension is off the charts, and the dragons are just as much a part of the story as the humans. What I loved most was the military precision of the world-building and the way the romance felt so earned amid the chaos and political maneuvering. Each book raises the stakes, making it impossible to put down. The end of Onyx Storm literally made me SCREAM! I need more immediately.

Crescent City Series by Sarah J. Maas

Books 1-3: Crescent City, House of Sky and Breath, House of Flame and Shadow

If you love urban fantasy, this series is a must-read. Maas drops you into a modern magical world where angels, demons, and fae live side-by-side with technology. It starts as a murder mystery, but it explodes into something much bigger, with intricate political intrigue and complex relationships that’ll make you question everyone’s motives. These books are chunky and demand your full attention, but the payoff is absolutely worth it, especially as Maas masterfully reveals that this world is part of a larger multiverse. The true jaw-dropping moment comes at the end of the third book, which finally connects the different series and introduces characters from the A Court of Thorns and Roses world.

Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

Before all the other series, there was Celaena Sardothien, the assassin who redefined my expectations for a fantasy heroine. This series starts as a YA fantasy and evolves into an epic adult saga across eight books. The character development is phenomenal, watching the protagonists grow from teenagers into complex, powerful adults. The world is vast, the plot is intricate, and the emotional devastation is balanced by triumphant victories. What I truly loved was how Maas wove together multiple storylines across continents and centuries, creating a tapestry that hints at a much larger multiverse, a thread that is later pulled in her other series. The magic and world-building get better with every single book. I am so excited to see how this book ties into the multiverse and I have SO many theories in my head about it.

From Blood and Ash Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

If you’re ready for a romance that’s a little “taboo” and a whole lot of tangled, this is the series for you. It all starts with Poppy, the Maiden, and Casteel, the charming private guard assigned to protect her—who has a very dangerous ulterior motive. What I absolutely love is how their dynamic kicks off the entire series, exploding into a complex mythology that spans multiple realms. The central romance isn’t a traditional love triangle but more of a glorious, messy entanglement that gets deliciously weird in the best possible way. Armentrout masterfully builds tension through forbidden love and political manipulation, all while delivering jaw-dropping plot twists that completely reframe everything you thought you knew. Each book ends with revelations that’ll have you immediately reaching for the next installment. The new book, The Primal of Blood and Bone., is dropping this September, and I’m already counting down the days!

Fire & Flesh Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

If you’re as obsessed with the world of From Blood and Ash as I am, you absolutely must dive into this series. This is a prequel that goes back to the very beginning, exploring the origins of the gods and the prophecies that set everything in motion. The story follows Seraphena, a Maiden with a secret purpose: to kill the Primal of Death, Nyktos, to save her kingdom. What I love is how this series masterfully blends duty, fate, and an electrifying romance that defies prophecy. The chemistry between Sera and Nyktos is pure fire, and it’s a joy to watch Armentrout deliver another strong, powerful heroine and a swoon-worthy male lead while building a rich, intricate mythology that makes the main series even better. This journey started with a few recommendations on Book-Tok, and now I’m completely hooked. I hope my list inspires you to pick up one of these amazing series and get lost in a new world.

For me, that means turning to audiobooks. With my “Irish Twins” running the show, I’ve had to get creative with my reading time. That’s why I can’t recommend Audible enough.
